I am Mitten Proud. Born and raised in Michigan, the only time I have spent living outside of Michigan was while I was in optometry school. When given the opportunity, I love supporting Michigan businesses. When I found an eyeglasses manufacturer with Michigan roots, I couldn’t wait to bring it in to Blink Eyecare. Can you imagine my excitement when I learned the co-founders are graduates of Eastern Michigan University, my alma matter?!?
But I soon learned there was so much more to celebrate by supporting Article One. This is a feel good kind of company with a mission to combat vitamin A deficiency.
Without proper amounts of vitamin A, children can go blind or even die. But, because this is primarily a problem in developing countries, most of the U.S. isn’t aware of the pervasiveness of vitamin A deficiency and its devastating consequences in poverty-stricken areas of the world.
For every frame that is purchased, Article One makes a donation is to Helen Keller International that is enough to ensure two children receive the vitamin A supplements they need for an entire year.
